Al Carter had a fabulous racing season last year, when he won his first professional driver championship and captured the 2015 GTD Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup. He won two legendary races, including the Rolex 24 At Daytona, and the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen. It was a true accomplishment for the driver from Greenville, Del.
Carter has not raced yet in the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. He was not planning to do so, until he got a call from Change Racing Team Owner Robby Benton to drive one of his team’s two Lamborghini Huracáns.
Carter will co-drive the No. 16 Change Racing Pertamina/Monster Energy Lamborghini Huracán GT3 with Spencer Pumpelly and Corey Lewis. The No. 16 Lamborghini had a great showing at this year’s Rolex 24 At Daytona, and it is expected to be a winning GTD-class contender on Saturday.
In addition to driving in the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh From Florida, Carter will also drive in the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge race. He will co-drive, with Rob Ecklin Jr., the No. 99 Invisible Glass / Rogue Engineering / BMW Melbourne / Red Glare Records Aston Martin Vantage, as he did at the Daytona season opener, where he finished fourth.
